PHPBB W3ALL Transfer does not transfer usernames on Cyrillic

Hello,

I cannot transfer usernames on Cyrillic, once I enter the username I got the message when I use Transfer single phpBB User into WordPress:

Error: Cannot create a username, if the username is empty

I have the latest version 2.8.9.

Would you please help?

Hi, stupid help required by me, sorry can you provide me a list of
cyrillic usernames (2 or 3) i will try to setup them into phpBB and try to transfer on fly with a test.

Yes i just tested and you are right:

Existent user: weirdsis -> not imported
Existent user: Synisto -> not imported
Existent user: test -> not imported
Added user -> ale

Going to fix

- are you into a default WP or WP multisite?

P.s i mean imported as Latin chars, are we on same line or you mean to import in WP Cyrillic usernames as they are, in Cyrillic?

And i assume that all the code about this, into two different wp_insert_user functions, not only for the import/transfer code, require an update after years, so to be fixed and works fine with Cyrillic.

p.s And i also realize that an unique function that insert users, using the wp_insert_user function is required.
