Edit : Event with the file replaced, the problem is not solved

Have you enable this old user manually into phpBB? Because as failed before, the user should have a valid wp registration activation link, which you may have not for this user.
You still experience this if you register a new user into WP than activate him clicking on wp activation link?

p.s nothing, just retested and work fine here, let know

I always make my tests with All New Accounts / Users.

That's exact : I register a new user into WP, i click on the WP Activation Link (mail) and then i am not able to logg in.

I need to activate it manually with phpBB.

Ps : the activation link was valid, after clicking on it, i have the page "Your account has been activated [..] " , but not able to logg in.

ok ... since i've try working 4 times (last just before this post) with no more error on the function, sure you've rewrite the correct file on plugin folder?

Just test it before : Replace the file again.

Testing a new registration with new user...activation... and still failed for first login

so i've just test user test10 latest added here has you can see (or test yourself), and all is working fine, i've get activation email, clicked link on, set password, logged in.
