Full sync i have not well understand what mean, but no. It need to work.
To cut the head of the cow, please let know this:
if you activate the last post widget with avatars, all work fine for those users instead?

ah ok, so this is a problem with the plugin you use... you say it not work even if you modify the execution order as suggested above ...
i'll try to install the plugin you use into an installation test to see what happen on fly as i can, but it will be a 5min test so i not grant the result!
let you know ...
would be nice a wp_w3all widget that display online users in WP, or in phpBB, and the count of both ...
