There is a not reported bug, about the Last Topics Widget i've just now discover:
i can't set number of topics numbers for each widget. If i set 5 topics for a widget, also any other widget instance have 5 topics...
Will be so solved on 1.4.3.

Ok just fixed. 1.4.2 has been patched to solve this bug.
Correct topics number for each last topics widget instance.
If not result fixed on 1.4.2 you have install/update (prior date of this post) just re-download wp_w3all and overwrite files, or just the file
class.wp.w3all.widgets-phpbb.php
